A Story, An Invocation, An Opening (2025) was devised from somatic intuitive dance workshops with a group of global majority folks, and brings together family archive footage of Trinidad Carnival, and sonic rhythms from the region to ignite a ghostly presence representative of personal and collective anxieties and transgenerational trauma. Rhiana Bonterre will lead an expanded screening of the film, together with its extended soundtrack, inviting audiences to respond to its invocations through intuitive movement and dance.
I Am Awake is an immersive soundscape performance featuring text and vocals by Anju M Kasturiraj and sound accompaniment by F. Dobrota. Audience members are invited to shape the sonic architecture through humming, collective reading, and quiet invocations. Dream journal entries tracing recurring visits to haunted houses and ancestral atopos are read aloud, looped, and layered into new forms. The work unfolds as a meditation on the elusive spectre of love, through its echoes and continuous transformations.
Gem Bryant will lead a participatory workshop exploring automatic writing as a method for generating visual poetry. Through guided prompts and reflective exercises, participants will produce fragments of text drawn from memory, intuition, and spontaneous thought. These materials become the starting point for creating visual poems using simple drawing and mark-making tools.
