About the role:
Mimosa House is London’s only publicly-funded registered arts charity championing female and queer voices. We are seeking to appoint truly exceptional candidates to join our Board of Trustees in 2026. Board members are expected to use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board reach sound decisions. They also act as ambassadors for Mimosa House, support its fundraising initiatives and uphold its charitable objectives.
The Board currently comprises eight members that represent a range of expertise from charity law and change management to philanthropic giving and accountancy. The Board holds four meetings a year and an annual away day. In addition to these meetings, Trustees can volunteer or be seconded onto a number of sub-committees, which focus on such areas as fundraising and finance. Sub-committees meet quarterly and report into Board meetings. There is also the expectation that Trustees will attend exhibition openings (currently 3 per year), and other activities that form Mimosa House’s programme.
We are interested to hear from individuals with a broad range of skills and experiences that can strengthen our Board. Our current priorities for skills and experience include - but are not limited to - charity law, curating, business development, finance, fundraising, PR, as well as practicing artists.
In line with our charitable purposes, vision and values, we particularly encourage applications from people who identify as having a disability, people from the global majority, and people who identify as LGBTQIA+, as these groups are currently under-represented on our Board of Trustees.
As a positive-action measure under the Equality Act 2010, we offer a guaranteed interview to applicants from any of these under-represented groups who meet the essential criteria for the role with the aim of encouraging a wide range of applicants. This does not give any advantage at the final selection stage.
We do not require previous Board/Trustee experience. We welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds. We will provide support for new or less experienced Trustees through mentoring.
